Black River Mission is a husband and wife owned business located in
Central New York. We are designers and builders of Arts & Crafts and
Mission Style furniture and accents. We try to keep within the purest of
form by following the lines of early well known craftsmen like Stickley,
Limbert, Roycroft, Brooks, and Lifetime. We do not try to recreate these
great craftsmen's pieces in their exact form. We do use what inspires us
all in this pure form such as Stickley's clean linear form, Limberts
earlier but very contemporary cut out patterns. Roycroft's and Lifetime's
bold and overly built designs. In the following pages you will find many
of our unique and period style designs. These pieces may be ordered as
they are or built to your size and needs. We are more than happy to build a
custom piece of furniture in your design providing you give us a general
drawing with dimensions.
All of our pieces are built of solid quartersawn oak. Our tabletops are
built of multiple planks, glued edge~to~edge, we use no veneer. We apply a
period finish to all our pieces, which consists of multiple coats of
shellac and hard wax. Most all our joinery is typical of the early
craftsmen pieces with mortise and tenons, and oak pegs. Most all of our
hand~hammered copper and brass door and drawer pulls, ceramic tiles, and
leaded glass are also constructed in our shop. This way it is kept within
our design.
We sincerely appreciate your stopping by our site to view our
handcrafted furniture and accents. Please feel free to contact us with any
questions you may have concerning our items.
Thank you
